The Old School Band's core repertoire
is based on the traditional dance music of England, Ireland
and Scotland and includes well-known tunes, some lesser-known
tunes and some tunes composed by the band. All tunes are carefully
chosen to suit the dances.
We always consider the tastes of our customers in planning
the music for the evening. With our wide range of instruments
and flexible PA system we can accommodate both traditional
acoustic and modern electric styles - most customers like
a blend of both in the same evening and we are never too loud
to inconvenience those who just want to chat.
The Band's two successful recordings Take Away, released
in 1995 and Fylde Away, released in 1999, both earned favourable
critical notice in the music press:
"The Old School Band play very jaunty dance
music - they will provide you with a first-class ceilidh."
Tyke's News
"With the instrumental quality to ring the changes in the
overall texture of the sound the Old School Band
have a lot to offer; try the tape then book the band."
Buzz
"A nice light touch with lots of lift for dancing, fully
exploiting the multi-instrumental talents of all four band
members."
Buzz
"A multi-instrumental homely north-west band clearly enjoying
their many gigs."
